The south face of Black Rock and Kahekili Beach park are both looking awesome today. We need the wind to calm down & it may. Powerful waves & strong currents. Sunny skies & light winds are expected for most of the day. Kahekili Beach & the south face of Black Rock have great snorkeling conditions. Take extra care to avoid waves entering & existing the water. The Kamaole Beaches, Ulua Beach & Makena Landing are all looking really nice & calm. Ulua Beach, Charley Young, and Kamaole #1 are all looking nice for snorkeling this AM. Mile Marker 14 is looking great! Ocean conditions are expected to become very dangerous sometime today. Winds are out of a more northerly direction & may affect Kahekili at some point. There are still areas of elevated waves. Forecast update in 2 hr 28 min 22 s. Mostly sunny with an east wind. Inside Kapalua Bay the waves are not necessarily big but the currents are still very strong- theres lots of water moving around. A very small area close to the south face of Black Rock has smaller waves but its such a fine line where the currents become super strong. Still some elevated waves at times & currents are strong further out from shore outside of the bays. These two bays have clear visibility. Brown water. Theres only a small chance of scattered at some point. . Scattered showers are possible but not very likely. Clouds may make it down & around Haleakala into the Zone this afternoon. Water is moving a lot and shorebreak at Kahekili and Kaanapali Beach is something to be aware of. Honolua Bay has waves breaking over parts of the reef, mainly on the right side. Be aware of powerful waves on the more exposed beaches & the waves are expected to pickup throughout the area sometime today. Maui has clear visibility in areas of each of the 3 Snorkel Zones! The Kaanapali Zone will have the nicest snorkeling conditions today! It is a beautiful Sunday beach day on Maui! The waves may briefly get smaller inside Kapalua Bay later in the day. Waves coming in big sets! Mostly cloudy day with showers likely throughout. It is unclear how much of Honolua Bay will be blocked off due to removal of the wrecked yacht that is expected today. Ocean conditions will be quite dangerous around the island but sunny skies and light wind make for a nice beach day in Kaanapali and South Shore.
